Default Re: EA Newbie game (PBEM) - Sign Up

Um, guys, I'm a newb and this is my first MP game, so when it was time to choose rules and starting settings I didn't ask anything due to lack of experience. I've been browsing this forum for the past few days and have found that the major exploit is engaging battle with a single mage, using the Mist of Deception spell and retreating afterwards. The spell is bugged and it's effect continues even when if the caster has escaped, massacring enemy or making him to retreat. This way a single mage with the cost of 2 air gems defeits the entire army. Stopping this tactic is nearly impossible even for experienced player, not telling about newbs. (If I said something wrong - correct me.)
I don't want game to be spoiled by something like this, and since the game had only just begun - my request is to forbid players to script the 'retreat' order for the caster of this spell. As I saw, most of the civilized games have restriction for this spell one way or another, or played on Twan's Mist of Deception replacement mod.
Another one often banned exploit is "Overfilling enemy lab" - sending magic items to enemy to make him lose his own items. So maybe we should forbid this one too?
Please tell your opinions and/or suggestions.
