When you go into the 'Retrofit' screen, you can only select same-size ships...and all those ships you select, will have to be retrofitted into the same kind of ship. So if ya want to retrofit all your cruisers and all your battleships, first select the battleships to retrofit, retrofit them, then select the cruisers & retrofit them.[/QB][/quote]

Therefore, if you try to retrofit a ship with special tech you don't own, you will not be able to select the special components when creating the new design, so you will lose them.
|
This is true for *any* tech you don't own. If you retrofit a ship with DUC5 and you only have DUC4, you don't get to keep the DUC5 when you retrofit. Of course, any smart player would analyze that ship instead

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
You can only multi-retrofit ships of the same class, not just the same size.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
Yes, but you cannot take two different classes of ships, ie a Wasa class destroyer and a Koronan class destroyer and retrofit to Spiran destroyer at once.
You first have to choose one of the type of ships and select retrofit( ie the Wasa ships) then the other (ie Koronan), but you can without problem change type of ships, i e from attack to defense without problem.
You can retrofit many classes the same turn but you have to choose them one type after the other.
The only thing you can't retrofit in is to add a space yard or colony component.
Will update FAQ tonight I hope.

Retrofitting to something has nothing to do with being able to use the multi-retrofit order. Its the from that matters, not the to.
