Horror Enslaver
So, on a scale of lunacy to effective, how well would this work as a horror-enslaving machine:
S9F9 oracle with green eye, forbidden light, amulet of reinvigoration, Reinvig Heart
Set to cast: Phoenix pyre, Enslave MindX4.
?
Interesting concept, at least? Create a massive horror beacon and then enslave them?

Re: Horror Enslaver
Very interesting!
If anyone can confirm that they've ever enslaved a Horror, then I would say 'sure, why not?'

You can enslaved a Horror, but you can't keep them.

So the only way to keep them is via wishes? Dang.

There is a fringe method:
Horrors sent to hell return and attack a random province, and they hang around turn to turn. I'm pretty sure that they can then be charmed, enslaved, or hellbound.

Re: Horror Enslaver
I had run tests a long time ago, even if you enslave them, you can't keep them for long as Redfrog said. At best they stay in your army a few turns, then vanish. It's not worth the wish+gor cost.

Re: Horror Enslaver
I haven't tried Enslave Mind on them. I have tried wishing for them--no need for a GOR but they don't last very long. I have tried enslaving them with tartarian chains for absolutely zero success.
Note, also, that I have had no luck with Phoenix Pyre against them. Never once has it fired even though it always should have. Conceivably this is due to using seraphs but I see no reason that should matter.
Note that it doesn't matter if the horror came due to a wish or simply a horror attack--I've had the guy wishing for horrors hit with a random one with exactly the same result.

Re: Horror Enslaver
yep horrors will just keep going away, however you could give yourself some tartarian chains and thug out, the oracle isn't the Best SC chassis but by making a habit of enslaving all the horrors and ashen angels who attack you, you could gear that oracle up and send him with his court of enslaved bodyguards, also put some turmoil on the scales and you should in theory have a nice flow of ashen angels and horrors coming in. other than tartarian chains and the forbidden light the rest of the equipment is up to you, experiment and find what works.

Re: Horror Enslaver
When you wish for horrors they come as commanders already. And there is like 50-50 chance they will attack you instead. And they don't stay long.

Re: Horror Enslaver
Well, it has changed since my tests (more than 1 year ago), or I have been unlucky. When wishing for greater horrors, they attacked me all the time iirc. I used an empowered Seraph to wish for and enslave them.
Maybe it would be cheaper to have blood+astral mages sending horrors to a province where your 'mind enslavers' are waiting. But if they leave your troops after a few turns, it's pointless.
