Highest "clickthrough" rating..... irrelevant that 90% of those clicks are teenage boys hoping it is an ad for some trendy new BDSM chat-room or something.

Completely irrelevant... certainly. I never had more stamina or enthusiasm for, er... strategy games... than when I was a teenager.

this is the problem with statistics

people don't understand there is no fundamental truth to any number, but rather there is always an interpretation.

and interpretation is always a little scandalous...

...the strong version of this is the "there is no truth" postmodernism. but even if you don't agree with that, there is a kernel of truth to it

Those ads are singlehandedly responsible for me not purchasing any more products from Shrapnel.

Those ads pushed me back towards heterosexuality... is that really supposed to be hot? I'm not sure they'd have pushed me towards Dominions either...

I haven't gone quite that far (I will still buy Illwinter's next project if it catches my fancy) but it's a definite turnoff. It does dampen my desire to point people toward Shrapnel games.

I for one appreciate the incorporation of maenads, succubi, oreiads and the like into advertisements. Also, I'm really not sure how these things are worse than any other advertisement that uses sex (read- most do). Or how using it in an advertisement is wrong somehow. It isn't like it says that if you buy dominions, beautiful men/women will want to sleep with you. Honestly, I've seen worse in advertisements for personal hygeine products, food, and furniture.
