CEV's and Dragons teeth
I can't figure out how to make my CEV's clear dragons teeth. Aren't they supposed to be able to do that? Am I missing a hot key that does the job? Thanks for any help.

Re: CEV's and Dragons teeth
Pretty sure the guide says engineers only for dragons teeth

Re: CEV's and Dragons teeth
I thought the CEVs would do the same thing? If not, what good are they?

Re: CEV's and Dragons teeth
IF they are engineer tanks they can demolish buildings and clear obstacles(mines, wire, maybe DT, i can't remember right now),IF they are mineclear, they tanks are better at clearing mines and not so good at obstacles.

Thet are good for clearing everything else. Think mine clearers work slightly faster vs mines. Dragons teeth need the men to blow them up or some such.

1) Did you remember to point the engineer tanks at the dragons teeth hex? (leg engineers need to enter the D/T hex)
2) Did you then wait for several turns for the engineering works to complete?
- Mine clearing is subject to random factors, so engineer tank A may clear 3 D/T from a hex at a different rate than engineer tank B, all other factors being equal.
- being suppressed or worse can slow the work down or stop it altogether. Armoured vehicles are less easy to suppress than leg engineers, though.
- Engineer tank class clears D/T better than Mine-clear tank class (vice versa for mines of course).
- There may be more than one D/T unit in the hex. Plus mines (1+ units) too. (The AI's bridge blocker with a D/T usually has a mine too).
Cheers
Andy

Re: CEV's and Dragons teeth
My CEVs just bypass the hexes. I think I even tried using the shift key to get them to move into the hexes with the dragons teeth in them. Still didn't work.
I'm playing a scenario that has a bunch of them in it. I messed with them, but couldn't get them to work. Least not the way I thought they were supposed to work.

They shouldn't be bypassing them unless you are clicking on a space (to move to) that is beyond the obstacle hex. For D/T, iirc, vehicles cannot enter the hex.
I was doing some testing and found in my scenario the following hexes cleared when the below vehicles were parked in front of an pointing at the hex;
M60 Mine Plough (Minclearing Tank)MINES - 2 Turns
D/T - 3 Turns
WIRE - 3 Turns M278 CEV (Engineer Tank)MINES - 2 Turns
D/T - 2 Turns
WIRE - 3 Turns This was without any enemy fire.

Not really. You can ram them against a building and they will demolish it and get stuck (nearly always, especially if stone buildings) in the ruins. They behave exactly like every other vehicle in this regard. Game wise it does not make any difference if it is a pick up or a D9.

Re: CEV's and Dragons teeth
So, basicaly engineer tanks are useless and you might as well get a mineclear tank if you can, instead of an engineer tank, right?
