Any Luck Running SEV on a Netbook at 1024x600?
Has anyone had any luck running SE V on a netbook (specifically, a Acer Aspire One D150 with 2 gB of Ram, and the GMA 950 graphics chip boosted back up to 400 MHz)?
I know SE V doesn't support any vertical resolution below 768, but I was wondering if anyone had any workarounds. I installed SE V and patched it to 1.79, and tried running it, and just get hit with "Rule Out of Bounds" errors

SE V has enough problems running under Vista, let alone on a netbook. If you can find an app that can emulate a windows enviroment, it may work!

I suppose I should clarify a bit, in order to avoid sarcastic answers. I have no problems with running SE V in Vista on my desktop, none at all, at least not with it patched to 1.79.
However, my netbook, like many netbooks out there, is running Win XP, so any Vista problems are non existent with my netbook.

Xrati:
What do netbooks have to do with Vista? AFAIK, none of them come with anything but WinXP or Linux (the Acer Aspire One D150 has XP Home).
Derek:
Have you tried modifying SE5's hud settings data file to the given resolution? It might trick it into working.
Another option might be to try and get the video display drivers to use a higher resolution. Sometimes, you can deselect a "show only resolutions this monitor supports" option in the display or video adapter config. If successful, you should get a situation where the extra pixels are off the screen, and moving the mouse to the bottom edge will scroll the viewable area.

Nothing, but it did get the information you needed to fix the problem!

Derek I recognized Dominions_3 recently provided a patch update for the Netbook at 1024x600... did you somehow convince the developers for this setting? Or possibly you're friends with Johan and Kristoffer?

No, sorry, it would be nice, though, since I do own Dominions 3, as well. Haven't tried it on my netbook, though.
Haven't got SE V working, either. Changed the settings in the HUD file, no joy. Oh well.

Re: Any Luck Running SEV on a Netbook at 1024x600?
I think Fyron's barking up the right tree, you need to find a way to let Space Empires render the window at 768 pixels height or more, and have your PC cope with it somehow.
Can you adjust the HUDSettings.txt file to run in windowed mode of 1024x768, and then just allow the very bottom of the SE5 window to run off the bottom of the screen?
That's the best option I can think of. Failing that, perhaps a virtual desktop manager utility would let you run a Windows resolution of 1024x768 with vertical scrolling, if the display options alone won't play ball.
