				 Planetary Populations
Hey guys, I have run into a situation that I was hoping you could help me out with.Recently, I captured a planet which has a homeworld atmosphere for my race but which was hostile to the race currently inhabiting it. It is a small world, and currently allows only one facility because of the dome. I do not have terraformers yet. My question is...

 1. If I bring some colonists from my race to the planet, will they remove the dome?

 2. If not, can I remove all of the other race and replace them with a small number of my race?

 3. If I do remove all of the other race, what happens if I dump them on a world that already has my race on it...does it become domed, also?

 1 - no2 - yes
 3 - yes

A planet is domed if any none breathers are on it. The best thing to do is replace the race on that planet with your race and move the existing race to a planet that they can breathe, preferably replacing your race to make it a non domed planet.

Should be "non-breathers". None breathers can have undomed colonies on the right type of planet. |

Thanks, gents. Now if you want to suggest some creative ways for me to...ahhh...expatriate the captive population, I would appreciate it! Actually, since I cannot colonize planets with no atmosphere, I'll probably just dump them on a world where I already have a dome. I have to go there anyway to pick up colonists. |

'Expatriate'? A race which breathes another atmosphere is actually fairly valuable. You could just load them into a transport and use 'Jettison Cargo' to get them out of the way if you really don't want to deal with them. But that might be a mistake. How is the current balance of power with your enemies, especially this race? Will it be easy to capture more of them? If you are not likely to have immediate opportunities to capture more of them I'd take the trouble to move the transport to a world with their native atmosphere. The extra facility and cargo spaces are very valuable, and available immediately rather than after a 2 year delay.

Well, they actually "breath" no atmosphere, and I don't think I can colonize worlds without atmosphere. I'll have to look into that, though. Maybe I can colonize my home planet's moon and put them there, so I can watch them VERY closely...dang ol' Rage.Quote:

				 Re: Planetary Populations
You can colonize a planet with any atmosphere (or none at all). The only restriction is on the planet type (ie: Rock, Gas, Ice). If you have Rock Colony Tech, you can colonize any Rock planet, with an atmosphere or not. |

				 Re: Planetary Populations
This may be a dumb-*** question so forgive me (newbie here). When I colonize a planet outside of my galaxy I can't build anything on the planet after I colonize it. I know I need a spaceport in every new galaxy I colonize but I can't even build that and my population is 0. Help Please!!!! |

				 Re: Planetary Populations
Population being 0 would be the problem. You must have a Population of 1M or higher before you can build anything on a Planet.
If you give a Coloniser a "Colonise that planet" order it will automatically load population, move and colonise.
If you give it a move order or Warp order it will not load population, so remember to manually add them first.
I remeber falling for that when starting.
