Maybe there'll be lots of difficulties addressing reported bugs to the developers if the game is heavily modded. Moreover patching etc will be more difficult to observe once it starts to deviate from the standard vanilla. I guess Don and Andy will just take a safe stance here. Also consider this game uses spaghetti codes that's somehow quirky even at normal state (even by the devs themselves).

I am not contra to mod, although I'm also quite content with the stock game.

Absolutely true.
In fact this is one of the major reasons in favor of having a mods sub forum here.
Modding is going to happen in any case, but right now its all over the place.
Hell, its easier to find WW2 and MBT mods on the Matrix site than it is here!

I totally agree that it would be a bad thing for mods to develop that would conflict with ugrades to the stock game.
That's why I think that having an organized spot here, where Don and Andy can more easily assist modders in producing cool additions that won't interfere with future patches, is such a good idea.
