Question Smoke Effect

I noticed on my game that the smoke effects will sometimes dissapear when a unit (ground unit, such as a rifle or engineer unit) pops off a smoke round and I am unable to activate smoke on my game after this occurs. The smoke will only return if another unit (from what I've noticed artillery or ground unit) pops off a smoke round or if I close the game out and then return to the game. I am not sure if the result is the same if I manually pop off a smoke round via my keyboard/hot key. Is there a fix for this or a possible reason why this is occuring? Thanks.

Just click the "Clear Dark and Smoke Hexes" button on the right or hit the "U" key on your keyboard and smoke will turn on/off.

Or the C hot key (instead of the U) if it's a deployment screen and not the main game play one (including the view map function at end of game) - I think the U hot key has a different function on deployment is why that happens (been there since SP2 days).
