Question Barbed Wire & Dragon's Teeth

In scenario 274 there is a 5 or 6 hex wide area of pavement (1MP) with various features on it, barbed wire, dragon's teeth or trees. The behavior of units in these features leads to questions.

Trees - the trees on the pavement hexes don't slow down movement, it's still 1MP. If they don't slow down movement, do they provide cover? I couldn't tell from the game play.

Barbed wire - I was surprised to see that tanks had extreme difficulty moving into the barbed wire hexes. Tanks which had 8 - 10 MP remaining stopped before entering the wire. The following turn adjacent tanks could enter some wire hexes but not all. It seems wire density is playing a part here. In other scenarios tanks had no particular difficulty with wire. What's the rule here? Is there any way to tell what the behavior of the wire will be short of running tanks up to it and seeing what happens?

Dragon's teeth - dragon's teeth slow down infantry movement. There is an inconsistency between the movement path shown by highlighted hexes, which indicates no slowdown and the actual movement. My question is do dragon's teeth provide cover for infantry? If so, how much cover relative to trees? Would a unit be better sticking to the dragon's teeth or trying to get to trees?

Barbed wire slows tracked vehicles down, the more the density then the more it gets slowed down (and it can possibly stick on it). Barbed wire entanglements got wrapped round the drive sprockets and stopped tanks from WW1 onwards. Allied tankers hated vineyards in Italy since the unbarbed wire used in these did the same thing.

I'd wait for the engineers to clear it (or go around) myself if it is more than say 1 strand dense. I would only crash through if I really had to.

Pavement overrides trees sometimes, it depends on the map generation. Pavement is one of those features that can occasionally do strange things.

Dragons teeth provide no cover.

The movement highlight is merely an estimate, it cannot be guaranteed 100%, and is completely fooled by water and vehicles with both swim and land movement. It always has been, though we fixed some of it 5 or so years ago or more. (I never use the feature myself - one of the first options I switched of in SP1 when I got my copy, never used since).

Thanks, good info.

Is there any way to tell how dense the wire is other than using the movement highlight?

You can only place 1 unit of barbed wire in a hex, so its easy to tell...
