Operation Desert Storm - German participation
Being a NATO member, in this scenario Germany takes part in Operation Desert Storm, as part of the multinational coalition forces, including the USA, the UK and France.
The German ”Operation Desert Storm” Main Combat Force
-Battalion Staff:
--Headquarters + 1 Marder I A3 (9 men)
-Medium Artillery Battalion:
--24 155 mm FH155-1 (264 men)
-Attack Helicopter Platoon
--4 PAH-1 BO-105 (8 men)
-Panzer-Grenadier Battalion:
--Panzer-Grenadiere + 30 Marder I A3 + 12 Marder I A3 ATGM (366 men)
-MBT Battalion:
--26 Leopard 2A4 (104 men)
-2 Raketen-Jäger Platoons:
--10 Jaguar 2 ATGM vehicles (30 men)
-2 SP FlaK Platoons:
--8 Gepard FlaK vehicles (24 men)
-2 SP SAM Platoons:
--8 Roland SAM vehicles (48 men)
The German ”Operation Desert Storm” Combat Losses Reserves
-Attack Helicopter Reserves
--2 PAH-1 BO-105 (4 men)
-Panzer-Grenadier Battalion Reserves
--Panzer-Grenadiere + 10 Marder I A3 + 4 Marder I A3 ATGM (122 men)
-MBT Battalion Reserves
--6 Leopard 2A4 (24 men)
-Raketen-Jäger Reserves
--4 Jaguar 2 ATGM vehicles (12 men)
-SP FlaK Reserves
--2 Gepard FlaK vehicles (6 men)
-SP SAM Reserves
--2 Roland SAM vehicles (12 men)
The German taskforce thus consists of 853 in the main combat force and 180 men in the combat losses reserves - 1.033 men in total. Since flying in more troops and equipment to replace combat losses will be both expensive and time consuming, this is the entire German combat force available during ”Operation Desert Storm”. Any additional combat losses reserves will have to come from the other coalition nations.
This AAR will last for 5 battles during January and February 1991.
Cheers, Taskforce
