Re: Rpg 32
All I'm going to offer here is everyone already knows where I stand on the OOB issue as already discussed based on the "school of hard knocks " over the years. For someone feeling a little more "froggy" then me, I offer the RPG manufactors site. I've taken many "shots" out here on various forum issues, maybe someone else might get lucky and they'll even respond back to you from the first ref. Also the second ref has been useful in the past to me as check or if you like an indicator of the flow of information/data on a subject matter concerning Russian equipment when needed. In this general RPG discussion the data crosses in some aspects to the BAZALT site, this site is also from Russia. Also there's a reason I'm pointing to the RPG-32 in ref. 2, the Jordanian manufacturing plant just opened last May per ref. 3.

The last added for context the "Related Stories" section should be of some interest especially the first article concerning the Russian Army.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!
Regards,
Pat

Re: Rpg 32
@Don,
This is OT, but how many weapon slots do you think are taken in the more full OOBs by things that are the same in everything but name?
I cant believe it's more than a few really, mostly rifles and small machine guns i would guess? In any case you guys are 100% correct, I would not add yet another RPG type when in 1 or 2 years you may need that space for a MBT or IFV or Arty piece.
Also is there no way to split some of the loaded OOBs? I am just asking I am sure there are reasons why its very complicated I just dont know.

If you want to go off-topic for a thread then kindly start a new thread for the new topic, please. Otherwise you get a tangled cats-cradle mess of questions and answers all intermingled for competing subjects and confusion arises. It also makes finding a particular conversation later to refer back to it, almost impossible without creative use of the forum search tools.
/off-topic
As to OOB implementation changes - we might look into that at a future date if it becomes necessary.

There are probably a few weapons in every OOB that could be amalgamated but in most OOB's it will never be a problem.
As hindsight is always 20/20 increasing the weapons slots along with the formations and units when we did that would have been "a good thing"(tm) but at the time we increased the units to 999 the idea they would get all used up in any OOB was akin to saying the Great Lakes would dry up one day.
As for splitting loaded OOB's lets just say it's way more trouble than it sounds and although the US and Russian OOB's are almost full it's really not critical at the moment and the issue only arrises when we have to explain why we are reluctant to use up a slot for a weapon that does what an existing weapon already does but you are correct, at this stage in those two OOB's we are holding off using up slots for anything "minor" if we can avoid it and when they really get full then we start reviewing what's there to see what we can cull.........but that's not now.
