Ammo Selector
I'd really like an auto-ammo selector, the settings adjustable by the user. Would it be similar to the op-filter? Similar to the op-filter, I mean-commonly the game seems to fire HEAT at APC's, and more sabot at MBT's. Is it possible to add such a thing?
I'd really like such a feature, myself.

Re: Ammo Selector
Possible, but remember Andy (the programmer for such changes) and Don (the OOB man) are taking the next year off to "have a life".

Re: Ammo Selector
Hi,
I think Don and Andy has said no to this request earlier. Besides, they have squeezed more out of the code than any thought possible. Anybody who has played the original SP2 would be very surprised.
PS.
Thank you to Don and Andy for the update. Three thumbs up .
DS.
Halstein.

Re: Ammo Selector
It's been brought on the table before many times, always negative as the ammo selector is deemed correct.
You should turn off your main gun before OPfire if alot softies appear and use HE on them (if) hard, use selectively HE or AT rounds if they are hard targets,if that any makes sense.
If all hard targets the ammo selector works good IMO.

Re: Ammo Selector
To choose weapon using the w key. But you can not choose ammunition.
The selection of ammunition is automatic and so far I have seen that works well.

Re: Ammo Selector
Yeah, the trouble many have is wasted AT rounds used on soft targets when HE would have sufficed.
It does not make much difference in game anyway,as usually plenty AT ammo is availiable for AFV's.
ATGM's however, need to be very selective using the "W" key or turning them off until a juicy target is in range say.

Re: Ammo Selector
All these requests across the board for both WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2 has made me very curious and then I took a close look at your Icon and it makes me wonder how much of this comes from your apparent background or association with the game "Remote Assault"? Is some of what you're asking about in that game? I'll go first and say my "association" with these games started well before SP DOS to the SSI and Avalon Hill games. Actually that should be in reverse order based on the start of the companies and release of those great board games. And it all started with Tactics/Tactics II for me, well Chess really. So how about you?
Regards,
Pat

Re: Ammo Selector
As for ammo selector, I'd like to destroy M113's using T-10M HE ammo.
Several shots of HE may be all that's left... bearing in mind Tanks may appear...

Re: Ammo Selector
What I love is when an M1 (or similar) has sabot and selects to fire HEAT at another "modern" type tank, waste of time.

Re: Ammo Selector
Just like real life you get caught out with an all purpose round in the barrel already or miss identify the target.
Its why ammo selection wont work, you need to select the next round to load before you fire the current one or you lose a shot waiting for the loader.
Game gunners are therefore pretty good as don't get caught with the wrong round loaded that often.
