Turn wont proceed bug
Hi,
I am writing on behalf of my friend, who has weird problem with newly installed free version of SPMBT on Windows 7.
He did install is outside Program Files, in completely different location.
Whenever he finishes first turn of the game and he is in turn 2, none of his important buttons really react. I mean particularly "end turn" button (that blue one) and "exit" (the red triangle). He pushes them, confirms and game ignores that. So pretty much he is unable to finish turn nor leave/exit/quit the game.
I have checked if he is patching everything correctly and yes he is.
In such case I wonder what that problem could be. It is repetitive: I also have that issues once for a while, game restart works. He has it ALWAYS happening what makes game unplayable.
Any solutions to it? We tried reinstall and setting compatibility to Windows 95, 98 and XP.

Re: Turn wont proceed bug
If things work in the deployment turn, turn 1 etc then there is no reason that I can think of that it should stop in turn 2 as its all been working A-OK before.
Plenty of folk use the free version on windows 7 - so if there was such a problem I'm sure we would have heard of it before now!.
So it is likely to be a problem at his end - though I cannot think for the life of me what it might be. Some anti-virus problem, video card, whatever?. But if its an external problem then it should really affect those buttons right from the get-go, not at turn 2.
Has he tried running in a different mode to see if there is any difference (windowed as opposed to full-screen?).
As a pure guess - If this is PBEM, does it work in normal play? - (and if it is PBEM specific then he is likely doing something not quite right in the process).
With hot keys
- Q to end turn.
- X should allow exit, but its also used by the direct fire smoke button (which appears first in the code so grabs it) - so that particular hot key needs changing to something else.

This I assume that the End Turn button does work at least initially to provide him with a confirmation screen (Y/N press). Then when he pushed the Y button the game appears to ignore the press of the correct button.
Maybe some keyboard problem. This is one of the most common problems found in notebooks or laptops, where you press this button but that character appears instead.

Re: Turn wont proceed bug
He should try hitting Z instead of Y, it's a common problem with non-english keyboards (QWERTZ instead of QWERTY).
