Default Shield Details & Treasure Levels

My wife and I each bought copies of AI and it's basically destroying our lives! Two questions:

1. Can anybody explain exactly what RCH (recharge) and CD (cooldown) do for shields? I think I understand all the other component details, but I'm still murky on those two.

2. On an unrelated topic, I'm delighted to see that the patch seems to have added a whole new kind of cave. Before, they either ended after a few levels with a nondescript level, or they seemed to be infinite (I've never gotten below about 90 because I keep getting diseased by fast rabats). But this morning I ran into two "treasure rooms," where the cave ended, once at level 18, once at level 12, with awesome amounts of loot including many schematics scattered about.

It's too bad work will be interfering with my gameplaying for awhile!

CD (cooldown) is the number of turns before your shields begin regenerating. Lower is better. This cooldown is reset each time you take damage.

RCH (recharge) is the number of of shield points your shield will regenerate each turn after the cooldown has expired. Higher is better.

As an example, with a CD of 7 and a RCH of 12, after taking damage to your shields you will have to wait 7 turns without taking more damage at which point you will begin regenerating 12 points to your shield each turn.

Can't comment on #2 since I haven't played much on the new patch yet. Happy hunting!
