Or at least that's how it used to be, I don't know if they changed it over the last few years.
I definitely recommend buying this game.

Are you sure I am sure it used to work, as Mobhack said use first 5 save slots & dont use that slot for anything else it will fail at some point.
|
When? Because as far back as I can remember, CD and free players couldn't play by email campaigns. PBEM campaigns were a feature of CD owners only.
|
PBEM campaigns are for CD owners only.
Other PBEM should work if one side is a free demo user, provided that both use slots 1-5 as the free game only has access to those ones.

Re: PBEM between cd and download version not possible?
Sorry guys, busy couple days! The free download player set up the first game, stock scenario #19, Nicaragua vs Nicaragua-Contra/Sandanista. I have the cd version, just bought it, must admit I never PBEm'd it before. I think me and Keif may have with the free one a long time ago, but really just getting into this. We tried twice, I read the PBEM notes, so pretty sure everything was done right, but this is a lot different than JTCS and PzCamapaigns, PzB, etc., that I am used to, soooo.... I set up another this time, stock, the Korean War scenario, he got failed to load.
When I got the first one, it said Player 1 oob different or something, so I then used his orbats the second try, still no good. I'm sure I could get years out of this just with the scenario's and campaigns alone, but PBEM is really where it's at! Anyone experienced want to set one up, send it to me, see what happens?
Something small, if possible, I often have 10+ games going, and making graphics for Matrix/Slitherine as well, not much free time!! Thanks very much in advance!

Re: PBEM between cd and download version not possible?
If two players are using the same game version and therefore the same OOB's there is NO problem running a free game - CD game PBEM. Andy and I have confirmed that.

Hmm, well, if someone takes up my offer, maybe it is something with his install, won't know until I can try someone else, I guess, thanks for all the replies!

There is an opponents wanted section of the forums. You'll probably get better a response there and that is where I am moving this thread

Re: PBEM between cd and download version not possible?
The biggest problem is people getting the zips mixed up ..it's better if one uses ZIP and the other RAR or whatever ) AND remembering to extract them to the correct folder and not just copy the zip to the PBEM folder then forget to extract it.....THAT is a common error

Re: PBEM between cd and download version not possible?
Testing a PBEM to myself, works fine, so I guess in theory...?
True that about the zips, I have one fellow I play a lot with JTCS, he is forever getting that screwed up!!
Know I said it already, but having not touched MBT for many years, and just now bought the CD version, and getting back into it, this is a great game, and works awesome!! Thanks so much for the continued support!!
