The Admin Box, March 1944*
*
Date: February 15th, 1944*
*
Battle Location: Imphal, India*
*
Battle Type: Japan assault vs India defend*
*
Description:
*
In early February 1944, the Japanese launched Operation HA-GO. Its goal was to draw away British units from the Imphal area, for the Japanese were planning an offensive there the following month. The crack Japanese 55th Infantry Division surprised the British and by Feb. 8th the 7th Indian Division was cut off. The Admin Box was a staging ground and headquarters area for the 7th Division. Surrounded on all sides, it was defended by a wide variety of troops, including cooks and office staff. On the 15th the Japanese launched the first serious attack to the "Box".*

A Common Virtue, Feb. 1945*
*
Date: February 20th, 1945*
*
Battle Location: Iwo Jima*
*
Battle Type: USMC assault vs Japan defend*
*
Description:
*
On February 19th, 1945, the U.S. 5th Marine Division assaulted the vital island of Iwo Jima. The capture of Iwo Jima would allow U.S. fighters to escort the B-29 bombers on their raids to Japan. The Japanese had garrisoned the island with 22,000 fighting men and were very well entrenched. After a day of very heavy fighting to secure the beach, the Marines decided to tackle Mt. Suribachi next. For 3 days the Marines and Japanese fought a no quarter battle to control the hill. Often the Japanese would infiltrate the Marines from behind, requiring them to retake the old positions all over again. Finally on the 23rd, Mt. Suribachi fell, but it would not be until march 26th that the island was finally secure. As one Marine General stated about the Marines after the fighting, "Uncommon valor was a common virtue".*

I am looking forward to them.

I remember the Wake scenario as being very hard to win.
