Airstrike Question
Couple of questions here:
(1) Do you think it's best to have all weapon systems turned on or turn some off so as to conserve ammunition?
(2) Will aircraft reload after making a strike?

Re: Airstrike Question
1) I have never turned air weapons off in 20 odds years of SP. If it takes just 1 point of damage it will RTB and no longer be available. So if it makes a pass, I want it to use all it has.
2) Planes dont reload, no off-map unit does.

Re: Airstrike Question
I almost always turn off some of the weapons on aircraft AFTER the first airstrike of the game.
As Don says, one point of damage and they RTB and the first (or first couple) airstrikes face the full might of opposition AA.
Subsequent strikes, however, can often benefit from keeping something in reserve for a second pass.

Re: Airstrike Question
I agree with the above responses, with a minor exception in that if your opponent likes to play using logistics support as part of their force make up, then you'll have issues using air power. I'm one of those players they're there in "RL" so I'll "spend the money" on them if you will. However this comes at a cost at least in regards to playing against the AI. Your supply units will in most cases have the biggest target on them as compared to the rest of your units from all "direct fire" units that it can get a shot it them under less threatening situations to the AI, including from planes. And the AI is "smart" enough to know when facing AA units to have air support to specifically target your AA units but, what I've seen is if it can't take out both AA and supply unit, it'll mostly ensure it takes out your supply unit.
So overall, you're really looking at a " cost versus benefit" situation.
I'll personally pay the cost.
Regards,
Pat

Aircraft do not reload as stated by others.
On the first question, I will routinely "turn off" weapons. However, I prefer my SEAD missions first to mitigate AA, then I fly fighter-bomber strikes.
Hope this helps.
