Anyone know how to get rid of unit ID Tags when 'Preferences' does not work? ID Tags just irritate me! I have consulted customer support and they have never come across the problem!

I note that someone has already commented on the incorrect armour factors for the Grant turret, the AVRE (Churchill III or IV, not VII), and other vehicles but the information for the Sherman Firefly is still incorrect in the latest update patch. There was NO M4A2 Firefly, and the turret on the M4A2 in Aberdeen Proving Ground started life on an M4A3, one of a number earmarked for US Army service, along with M4s. The initial order was for 160, later cut to 80, and a few Fireflies were in US hands by VE Day. The 755th Tank Bttn in Italy got 12 on the M4 but never used them in action, and others were off-loaded in France before war's end. Can the profile be amended? I lack the skill to do this - always assuming that I had permission. As a researcher for the Advanced Squad Leader system, I have tons of data that might help to correct errors, should it be wanted.

The write up does say " A few Sherman IIIC are believed to have existed" and at the time that was added to the info years ago up until today you are the first to point out they did not.

DO NOTE we do not have any IIIc Fireflys actually IN THE GAME for the reason stated above

.......and it was I who told Shrapnel nobody else has ever had a problem turning ID tags off in Preferences because it's us they ask when things like this occur.

There is a hotkey listed in the in-game help file (K) but it does not work and we can find no code for it in the game but we are thinking about adding it in for the next release.

Also please remember to check the patch area for updates if your game is anything but v13. It *might* solve your problem

Are you talking about the little unit flags? Or the identifiers for the units that say A0-BN, B0, C1, etc.?

If the OP is talking about the formation lettering - the 5 key toggles that IIRC. Search the Game Manual under the "CD Extended features" section for the section titled "Show/Hide Formation ID's".

Formation IDs <> ID tags
Formation ID == B08 etc text (controlled bythe 5 key)
ID tags == miniature national flags (controlled with the preferences menu)

There is also a setting for IDs in the misc section of the game launcher - that shows Mobhack line numbers for units and formations in the purchase screen - its for error reporting/debugging purposes.

The bottom line is we have never had anyone ever report they could not turn off ID tags through preferences.

Thank you, gentlemen for replying. When I go into 'Preferences' and pre the ID Tags button it changes from ON to OFF but nothing happens in the game and the ID letters remain on the units.

I will try messing about with the suggestions offered.

Thanks, chaps. One of the first things I tried was to go into Misc and set the button to NO. It makes no difference.
