Re: Newbie Gold game on PBW
wait a day or so for me if you can. I'd like to try my first multi-player game via PBW, and I'd feel a lot better doing it iwth some other first-timers, in case I screw things up. ;-) I'm at work now, so will try to join the game tonight EDT.

Re: Newbie Gold game on PBW
Hey there, I sent a request to join. I'll download the patch tonight. I'll use the default Jarenar race.
Question -- someone is using the Vorlon Race. Once I download, I'll just put all files in their own folder where the other races are. Do I have to do anything else to make the Vorlons show up?
I don't want to screwup the game after I'm ready just cause I'm not set up right locally.

If the Vorlon bmps and text files are in Pictures\Races\Vorlon, then they will work properly. If you do not have a race set up properly on your computer, it will not affect the game itself at all. When you meet the empire in the game, they will be using a random ship set each turn, but that's it.

My intent with the victory conditions is to allow an allied victory. I'm sure one of the more experienced people here can tell me if I set it up wrong. Note that the "at peace" victory conditions are not checked until 10 years have elapsed, so the game will go for at least 100 turns.

If the Vorlons have a custom list of shipnames, you should put that .txt file in the Dsgnname folder.
Not having the design list there shouldn't cause any problems in a PBW game, but it might cause an error if the Vorlons are picked as a random race in a solo game.

Re: Newbie Gold game on PBW
Be careful--there are two very similar victory conditions. Make sure it's "victory conditions do not apply until after X years" and not "X years have elapsed." I set up a really cool epic game with something like 15 years of peace required and didn't take effect until after 30 years--except it was 30 years have elapsed, so my game ended just as things were getting interesting.
