Default Integer overflow crash

I just had a game crash when I attacked with a huge fighter group (about 300 in one group!) an enemy satellite group (about 80 sats). In strategic combat the game froze and the error message "integer overflow" showed up.
I had to restart the game from the Last savegame and repeat the combat with a smaller fighter group. Then everything was fine.
Anyone seen similar problems (Version 1.78)? Is there a maximum number of fighters in one group?

If you can duplicate this error please email your savegame to MM and explain how to duplicate it. There have been problems like this in the past but we thought they were fixed.

There is something wrong with very large fighter Groups. I could not reproduce the "integer overflow" crash until now, but try once a fight with 300-400 large fighters in one group against 100 large sats in the combat simulator: after the first shot and the destruction of some 50 fighters the group had no supplies left! I used the Abbidon AI designs in a test game with high starting tech level and let the simulation run on "Auto". So you don't even need a savegame to verify this for SE IV Gold Version 1.78.

I got the "integer overflow" error on PBW game: Pukes FURBALL IV.

Last turn, I got 2500 large fighters in one single group with 300 ships at one sector.
My partner got 2500 fighters located at the same sector with 200 ships.
I gave my carriers order to go there to launch some more fighters this turn.

I can load up this turn, but when I try to select that system, SE4 give me an "integer overflow" error, then it hang.

Any suggestion?

Dreamplace, MayaMax is reporting the same thing in the Furball game. I'll look into it and see if I can figure anything out.

Thank you, geoschmo.

The Last emery empire has been destoryed by MayaMax this turn. Alliance will not hold any longer, it's just him or me. We are about to start fighting, please please tell me how to solve this "integer overflow" problem.

I had a crash in windows XP with the Devenull Mod. It was the first time I ever saw Windows XP reboot after a crash. I was in a 60 or so ship battle on a warp point In single player tactical mode when I launched missles from one of my ships. then the game crashed and the computer rebooted. but I will point out that WinXP had been on for a couple of days playing the same game.

I also had this happen while viewing a combat replay the other day in latest Version of gold.

for some reason the Strategic combat ran fine but running the replay of combat caused the overflow.

Havent had a chance to send a save game - will try to get on it tonite.
