Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)
Why bother? They can just wait a few turns, then take all my provinces from Pythium.

Why can't we just give peace a chance?

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)
The goblins of shinuyama are afraid that if they do not stop the pythium pretender now and his armies of artifact-laden elemental royalty, scores of theurgs and several score green lion, with the help of abyssia and r'leyh now, the pythium pretender will never be stopped. So, from our point of view, its now or never.
EDIT: since its now largely irrelevant, can you share with us, Mockingbird, how you took such a decisive research lead? I've played pythium twice and never managed to do anything quite like you did? It was (and continues to be) very impressive indeed.

It's hardly a mystery -- he has at least half a dozen castles popping out theurgs left and right. With that many mages, his research will naturally be huge.

Acashic Record, lots of surplus death gems. Also his pretender has D4 (along with E4N4).

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)
Wow, I was attempting to make a joke and I guess I got taken seriously.
The thing Shinuyama should ask themselves is, do they just want to stop Pythium from winning, or do they want to actually win themselves? Because there is no way to prevail over Pythium without incurring terrible losses -- and then some other nation will go on to win (probably Caelum). On the other hand, attacking some smaller nation to gain territory and build up strength puts Shinuyama in a much better position to actually win the game. Sure, Pythium might grow stronger in the meantime but that's only a risk, not a guaranteed loss.
Not that I expect this advice to be heeded. But win or lose, it looks like I'm likely to have some interesting action this game, so I'm pretty happy about it.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)
yeah - this has been one of my most enjoyable MP games.
Seriously though Mockingbird, do you care to comment on your meteoric research and gem accumulation rates?

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)
I don't know if there's anything really to explain.
Forts = mages = research
Provinces + sight searching = gems
I think I'm actually low on gem income for the number of provinces, actually, although I haven't done a real calculation. You might notice that I'm not that the top of the graph.
