Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
I am amused by Aol. I am physically a very male man. I need a very female woman, not a magazine for women.
I will now mention yet another song. I think the author may well have been someone like Jim Croce. The song includes the word string "time in a bottle".

Magic is fantasy. This is reality. If you do not know how to get connected, then I certainly will not tell you, except that it requires a certain twisty mentality and lots of help. So Harry Potter had better beware.
I will continue to ignore your efforts to attach disc over cards. I have had enough of that nonsense already.

Here goes nothing yet again :
"I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden."
Along with the sunshine, there's got to be a little rain sometimes.
So if you take you've got to give so live and let live,
...............
"I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden."
Women have their pride too.

After carefully considering the persons who visit this forum, and taking a shower, I have decided to admit that I do know a smattering of German. I learned a song in childhood which would be translated into English as "My hat has three corners" more or less.
Having said that I will also point out an amusing flaw in the reasoning of those who read the bibles. The commandment "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me" is very explicit. Yet I have never heard anyone mention the obvious interpretation, paraphrased by Heinlein as "Thou Art God". The Holy trinity is [me,myself,I].
If you try believing in yourself, then life will become much easier. If you have anything left over after that then believe in whatever you like.....

Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
I guess not. What I remember is the one little song. "Mein Heut It Hat Drie Echen" or however the thing is spelled. To make a long story short, I was in classes for "academically talented" students from the 3-7 grades. Along the way there were occasional bouts of foreign language including French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portugese, Esperanto and what not. Typically the teachers would introduce songs with a translation as an example of learning from context. These were not seriously recieved by the students and were taken as vacation time. By contrast hundreds of hours were spent on sentence decomposition and structure diagramming. I did rather well in those areas, but the two dimensional schema did not properly represent many things I wanted to say. I was "larned proper grammer" and went along for the sake of a good grade.....

i always thought that three cornered hats (and three cornered things in general) were well styled. a shame they are not more popular in modern anglo saxon culture.

After careful consideration, i have decided that altough slightly louder than myself, that you are a man after my own heart. If the average human could take a more educated view of the world, i think that accepted modern philosophy would have far more Nietzschean flavour to it.

Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
Another tune I recall somewhat :
Oh where have you been Billy Boy Billy Boy, oh where have you been Charming Billy ?
I have been to see my wife shes the joy of my life shes a young thing and can not leave her mother.
How old is she Billy Boy Billy Boy, how old is she Charming Billy ?
Four times six and five times seven forty eight and eleven, shes a young thing and cannot leave her mother.
