Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread
Oh I can live with it. And it is pretty funny. It will just limit my use of certain tactics and tricks. On the other hand, it also opens up some interesting tactics... weird interesting tactics...
So hey, I'm in this one for the Gold. Let's go.

Yeah... interesting... I can't even think about what might be 'strange' with our side...

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread
Hey...can any of you tell me where to look for long term guilding with this game? I'm fairly convinced it will be a staple for me for years to come. I'm an avid turn based Strategist gamer for many years...TalonSoft stuff and the like...and this one seems to fit the bill remarkably in it's replayability and enthusiast base...So where should I be looking?

Not sure what you mean by "guilding". Could you elaborate?

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread
Sure..by guilding I mean permanent teams who play together or against each other all the time. Or is the community basically a guild by itself in size? I thought I saw something that was like a "Galactic Sized" map (meaning like 100 generated maps with front lines etc), that must have many players playing at same time.
Also...can anyone tell me what are the most "essential" mods? Shipsets? I see Atrocities (for instance) has a Phuckload of Sheeyat out there...I just want to know which ones I should grab first...what ones most players would consider the "best"...are some good for AI only while others better for graphics...etc..
Thanks for anyone taking time to answer this.

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread
Ok, the game is running fine except the master password I put do not match the Master password Griphin put for the game in PBW. So until a PBW admin update it, I'll process the turns manually. Doing that, there was 2 things I noticed :
gamekid90 : you messed up , your turn was for turn 1 , this is turn 2.
nirtus : your file seems to be from a different executable than this game. Please patch your game to 1.84 ASAP.

That megamap game was discussed, but I don't think it ever got off the ground.
I gather that in the early days of SEIV there were a lot of "teams"/alliances out there (you can still find several websites for them in the SEIV website thread), but I don't know how active they still are.

TDM is probably the most widely used (and acclaimed) mod. It's major change is making the AI's a heck of a lot tougher. It also includes some new races and shipsets.
Fyron's Quadrant Mods also get used a lot. New graphics, and more hostile terrain (prepare to see your smaller scout ships get eaten by damaging warp points... ) Fyron also has a Ultimate Strategies mod that vastly increases the default combat options for ships and fleets.
The biggest mod project going on right now is Atrocities' Star Trek Mod (now at iteration 1.25a I think), using his Star Trek races and all new tech trees for them.
As for shipsets, it's simply a matter of personal taste. Atrocities (aka the One-Man Shipset Design Bureau) has by far the largest number of, and highest quality, shipsets available. At Kuat Drive Yards, you'll be able to see and use Andres' excellent Star Wars shipsets (including the Space Dragons, aka "The Terrors of Lithuania" ). Be sure to check out the (once fully, now almost) complete shipset list at State of the Art Spaceyards for all the shipsets available.
EDIT - added links
