Re: Connect
Ouch, I have a strange problem. Yesterday I was playing a single player battle and I got an out of memory error (I have half a gig of RAM). The game would not restart. So I reloaded, and re-patched but still it won't work.
Any ideas?

Re: Connect
Server IP has shifted.
IP is now: 69.10.118.172
I work graveyard and just got home and checked the Boards and noticed this, I am resetting the Timer to avoid Stale Turns.
This is fairly rare so hopefully will not happen again any time soon.

Re: Connect
Dragonfire, does it give you a specific error when you try to load the program?
Does the error occur when you are open the program itself or when you select a menu item inside the game?
If it is giveing a specific error, what are the details of the error specifically does it reference any recognizable file names?
Have you recently installed any patches to your OS or to any major programs that always run, Antivirus, Firewall, etc.?
What OS are you running?
When you reloaded did you completely uninstall the game first?
If you uninstalled it did you delete any files left behind other than Maps, Mods, Pretenders, and Save Games?
There are just not enough details in your initial post to draw any conclusions.

Re: Connect
Hi Grim Knight:
Here are more details:
1. I get no error message, except for when the game first crashed which was insufficient memory. Now the game simply won't start and all I get is a black screen for a few seconds and then I am on my desktop.
2. I have not installed anything recently including patches. In fact, a couple of months back I did a new load of windows and the system is quite clean.
3. I am using XP Home SP2.
4. The first reload I simply reinstalled. The second reload I uninstalled, moved all folders except one or two game files, and then reinstalled. I will try a complete reinstall momentarily.
5. Shrapnel emailed and suggested that I delete all files in my windows temp folder -- this did not work.
6. The PC seems stable and functioning in all other respects except for Dom2. I read somewhere that the SP2 can affect some games, but since I have not had this issue previously it seems an unlikely cause.
7. I also did a system restore to a couple of days ago when the game worked. No luck.
I hope this info helps.

Re: Connect
I just did a complete fresh install with no folders remaining. A total failure.
Actually, I've never before seen a problem like this one. I am stumped.

Re: Connect
Shrapnel asked that I look into the stderr file in the dom folder. It contains the following:
Något gick fel!
Failed to create temp directory properly (already existed)
I don't have a clue what this means, but it might point to the problem.

Re: Connect
Try to do an uninstall and then install the game from the CD again. Just deleting the proper folders might not be enough.

Re: Connect
This post might help:
Check if this "C:\DOCUME~1\Chris\LOCALS~1\Temp/dom16882" directory exists. If it does (it shouldn't) you can delete it and try again.
Edit: Doh! Trouble finding the right URL...

Re: Connect
That was it Deccan -- but Shrapnel tech support helped me first. It was a tough one to hunt down for sure, but it's fixed and apparently the next patch will fix this issue. Thanks for your help! So I'm back in the game.
