When adding an open ended 2d6 to many of the numbers it introduces enough randomness that you're guessing at the results anyway.

Yeah, I don't care for stats of movie characters; I *do* care for unit stats in a strategy game.
They are nearly as useful as the game rules themselves, and without them the "strategy" becomes "blind guessing about how it works", plain boring...
