Re: Spell Effects Database?
One minor typo: You have Blood Rite listed twice
Aargh, the copy/past problem. Corrected. Thanks.
Do Resist Magic and Antimagic stack?
No, I dont think so, same effects are often not cumulative even if the name is different (Eagle Eye + Aim, Body Ethereal + Robe of Shadow etc). Different bonuses are cumulative however (Bear Claw Talisman + Giant Strength, Legion of Steel + Bracers of Protection etc).
Cheers

Re: Spell Effects Database?
Nice list! A few things...
Wishing for Armageddon kills 20% of the population in most provinces in the world! Yes, even the ones you don't own. Well, ok, this isn't completely confirmed, but in the provinces I checked (I have a save game with Arco and had casters Astral Window enemy provinces before and after the wish) I've only found 1 that wasn't affected. This includes Abysia, which I didn't own! They went from 12290 pop before to 9870 pop after the wish! Pythium (which I did own) went from 50440 to 40590, and Arco went from 38880 to 31160. I checked other provinces as well, and 1 province out of the 8 I checked didn't change population. Hardly a comprehensive test I know, but still...
You may want to put "Lichcraft" in the list. I know I personally thought you actually changed an existing mage, and had to have at least 2 mages involved in the casting from reading the description.

Re: Spell Effects Database?
Very nice work, Sunray!
I have a few problems with the wording of the FotA entry, though
Quote:
From the list
Forge of the Ancients : gives a 50% forge bonus and every mage gets one more magic level when forging items ... even if his level is zero (yes a Fire-1 Initiate can forge a Fever Fetish or a Rainbow Armor !).
|
FotA gives +1 level in each path for purposes of forging, including all those he does not have. In the example above, any mage can make Fever Fetishes and Rainbow Armour when under the effect of FotA. [The example can be read - or misread - as if the Fire-1 on the mage is important for the purposes of the two items mentioned, which it is not].

Usually that's the case but according to Zen, Iron will and resist magic/antimagic stack.

Maybe it could have been a bit clearer but since Rainbow Armor takes no skill in Fire, I thought it was pretty clear. The example does point out, though, that you need to have some kind of magical ability to forge.

That's a little extreme, since it allows anyone who's mass produced clams (to get 100's of pearls per turn) to permanently destroy every nation other than Ermor in about 10 turns.

Re: Spell Effects Database?
Thank you all for the input.
Darryl, I changed Armageddon (Wish) as suggested: "earthquakes and meteors kill 20% of the population and of the units in most provinces of the world". And I added Lichcraft: "you don't need a second 'willing necromancer' to be transformed, the spell works like a summoning".
Peter, I changed FoA as suggested: "gives a 50% forge bonus and +1 level in each path for purposes of forging, including all those he does not have. (yes, an Astral-1 Sage can forge a Fever Fetish or a Rainbow Armor !)."
Yossar: I added Iron will in the list. It’s hard to understand why do some spells stack, and other do not. Same for items BTW (two Soul Contracts can give 2 Devils/t, but two Cauldrons of Broth are not cumulative). So I wrote the word “often” in my message

Re: Spell Effects Database?
Some observations:
Armageddon Lasts for multiple turns, which is why it's so evil. I was playing with some friends and one cast Armageddon, but the game was pretty much wrapped up at that point already. So I'm not sure how long it Lasts. 3+ turns anyway. Since units die off randomly (even pretenders!), it may stop when the caster gets waxed.
I need to do some more testing on it, but Forge of the Ancients seems to halve the gem costs, NOT give 50% forge bonus. Dwarven smith with Forge Lord hammer (75% total bonus) uses 10 gems (25% of 40) for a Robe of Invulnerability.

I thought Zen said it would stack but then I tried it and after antimagic was cast my earth mage wouldn't cast iron will. So I'm not sure anymore.
