Well, I have given up on using the warships as actual threats to enemy warships. They are rammers now, and if they can actually soften up the enemy shielding before ramming, all the better. They also serve as kamikaze minesweepers, and can still glass the odd planet.

However, this is definitively not a kamikaze time; I am merely *attempting* to make a suicide run. But when ten planets of mine are captured every turn, hurting his happiness is almost impossible, and the best I can do is hope to get a lucky shot. There is no core system belonging to me, and no way of defending them, so the matter of defence has been solved; there will be no defence. Just don't tell that to my civilians; somehow, that might hurt their morale.

At least, I can put the full blame on the previous players and the AI, as I took over ten turns ago or so. Still, the wise decision of attempting to play the kingmaker was mine, and so I actually brought that slaughter upon myself. Still, allies were supposed to jump in, but it didn't exactly happen (I think there were three or four of us in that attacking wave).

IIRC, the way storage capacity works is that any resource conVersion, point generation and/or gifts are all added together to be used by your empire regardless of your capacity. Once everything is said and done, THEN it checks to see what is remaining and if it is more than your storage capacity, then it will toss the excess. I'm not 100% sure about this but about 90%. I seem to recall being in a situation where I needed more minerals than I could store just to maintain my fleets and was producing more Orgs and Rads than I could store, so I was converting all excess orgs and rads and wasn't having a problem with maintenance. So in your example (assuming you had near zero before the gift) you would have full use of the 500,000 during your turn and after your 400,000 expenses, you should still be left with 100,000 in storage.

Again, I'm not totally positive, but I am quite confidant that's how it works.

Hope it helps.

*waves back to Alneyan* sorry for answering that late, I was busy sending fleets into your direction
I'm pretty sure Bearclaw has gotten it right. Sorry if I'm doing such pain to a proud empire with thousands of warships, but whose allies detecting too late that untrained fleets and ships are not really worth being sent into battle, I hope you don't get too angry about it.
Funny the way I fear you and you fear me...

And a few words from First Speaker Roanons wisdom: never rely only on a single resource converter - they are cheap to build but priceless if you don't have them...

Well, First Speaker Roanon is a reasonable ruler, ask the Aether Lords, peace is no option? We are detecting new fleets with several hundred of your ships every turn, and even with DUCs they can do some damage to the few baseships we can field - you are not that weak, and our humble empire is not that powerful, especially when we look at the hundreds of warships other empires already have assembled while we are still busy managing 10-ship fleets...
