Re: Future Patches of Dominions_3
I want all of that stuff (every choice).
I'm greedy.
But considering there are only two devs, which includes one who fixes bugs and changes code and one who writes content like new nations and heroes, I don't really see how requesting one or the other really matters. Each guy will work on what he does (or not, as he pleases).
Hell, after adding Lanka and the demon/darkness issue fix, I pretty much want them to do whatever they feel like.

Re: Future Patches of Dominions_3
Adding new nation-specific heroes and spells can be important, as these elements give a certain uniqueness to the nation they are bestowed upon.

Invalid question.
Kristoffer has made it pretty clear some time ago (and I haven't seen a contrary statement since) that Illwinter is not going to do a "Dominions IV"
A) based on the engine of DomPPP-Dom3, as "everything that can be done (and maybe even more) has been done. A major change/fix at one point is likely to break the code at another point", therefore bugfixing is on the verge of getting out of hand already.
B) starting a complete re-code, what would be required to do a major change or expansion of the game: It took Johan several years to get the code base where it is now, and it looks like that he (and maybe Kristoffer as well) have very little incentive to start from scratch again, as that would become boring very fast.
If Illwinter is going to do a new game, it will be something new most likely, he said.

Re: Future Patches of Dominions_3
> It also seems worthless to have things like "fix bugs" on the same choice list as "add new nations" since they are not mutually exclusive. What good is it to choose one over the other when its different people doing them?
It is unlikely thet we do more than a few bug fixes if we just fix bugs. If we, on the other hand, add new stuff, we tend to test things and work on the game a lot more, since that is fun. We then test more and encounters bugs and fix them. That means you will probably get twice as many bug fixes when we add stuff as when we just fix bugs. So bugfixing leads to less bugfixes and less content, while content leads to more content and bugfixes.
Having us play the game is probably the best way to get all of the above
Make JK play a mod game with skaven. He likes Warhammer and likes adding mod commands. If the skaven neds a particular mod command to get a fun feature he is more likely to add it. If there is a modding bug that makes the skaven not work, he is more likely to fix that.
In short: suggestions for fun stuff that is currently affected by bugs will give you more bugfixes than complaints regarding existing bugs. It might still be useful to have bugs reported though

Re: Future Patches of Dominions_3
How do we make JK play a mod game with Skaven? If you poke him, I'll set up a game!

Thats rather a misleading statement isnt it?
|
No, it's gathering the opinion of the community regarding the items listed.

"Fix Bugs" and "add new nations" are two different tasks and have been listed so the community has an opportunity to express their opinion on prioritizing them.
Gandalf, these items have nothing to do with who does these tasks or how these get completed. This poll is purely showing the main interests of the community regarding future patches. All main categories have been listed which is why the other category is so low.

First, it's not a question it's one of the optional opinions. Second even tho Illwinter has made it known there are no plans for Dominions_4 doesn't remove the fact that many within the community would desire to see it become a reality. It's one of opinions so Illwinter can identify the desires of the this community.
So Illwinter can make any decisions they want regarding future patches and future games, but this poll is to reveal the opinion of the community.

Sounds good, I'm creating a unique nation which might inspire ideas and fun for you and JK. Hopefully it will be ready by October, my life keeps me very busy.
This poll is so Illwinter could view the thoughts of the community regarding future work of Dominions.

Re: Future Patches of Dominions_3
Why? The effects of that have already been made clear. Pushing it will be counter to the desire.

Nothing is being pushed.
The poll has one purpose of just revealing what future work the community considers the most important.
