If the MG was in the first slot rather than the fourth, wouldn't that fix the 'quirk'?

Not sure , ........maybe....I think we experimented with this a decade or longer ago but I don't recall the results. It's a trivial issue but if you're really interested build a test version with MOBHack and and let us know what you discover
