Re: campaign scenario setup help
Just as the enemy lines were broken came the bad news. the attack had failed on other parts of the front and now with with everything comitted and a dozen kia and more then 50 wia hauser had to order a retreat. luckily the uk units in this area had been beaten quite badly so they didnt have the strength to mount a counterattack.
still all units had to retreat in order to consolidate forces and prepare a defensive line. some replacements had arrived as rumors of a planned allied offensive.
air attacks by the raf have been increased and some scout groups have been picked up. something is up for sure.

Re: campaign scenario setup help
Somethingwas up and it materialised in the form of a tank battalion supported by an infntry battalion attacking our the axis lines. artillery and air support was also avialable but in the end only one point of the line was breached and but mainly due to the 88 guns running out of ammo. in the end counterattacks on the flanks by italian and german armour encircled the few britsh survivng tanks and they had to surrender.
the italians lost 2 tanks and the germans one mobile AD. These losses could be quickly replenished with captured british equipment. we are still waiting for that tiger tank to arrive but fo the time beeing we have a churchill 3 which is the next best thing regarding armor.
also awailabae now one sherman and a rebuild crusader whith a 37 mm aa gun and open turret since it was badly damaged from artillery fire and couldnt be kept.
all in alla rtillery mainy immobilses the brith tanks but is very weak in inflecting any damage especially the 15 cm sig gun is a big dissapointment.
the raf lost 2 planes to kg hauser flak but also amnaged to destroy one vehicle and immobilise the hq tank of the pz kompanie. luckily it could be repaired.
other wise losses were almost nonexistant with one para cathcing a bullet in the shoulder he might have to come back to the frontlines since there is no good connection to the backward units for now.
otherwise ammo is low but morale is still high. still an attack seems difficult so for now kg hauser is fortifying its positions.
just sitting here and waitng cant lead to anything good though....

Re: campaign scenario setup help
i didnt put any pictures in but i finished the last battle also as i tireid to explain the allies didnt manage to create a breach on the lines they only manged to destroy 3 vehicles of mine and to clear some mines but it cost them lots of tanks and my 88s destrozed around 20 tanks each.
would be nice to get a tiger though to have a mobile 88 but so far no luck...

Re: campaign scenario setup help
Sorry for the delay... I read your post really late at night and thought: "I will deal with this tomorrow." But then I forgot about it.
Anyway.

We held our positions despite overwhelming pressure, but other divisions south of us weren't as effective. When darkness fell, we had to retreat.
3 Months later.....
American Forces have landed in Morocco and are advancing eastwards. Command believes that a spoiling attack will throw the inexperienced Ami off balance. This offensive towards the town of Sidi Bou Zid is of the utmost importance, so 2 of the new heavy "Tiger" tanks have been attached to us for this mission. If they survive, you can add them to your coreforce

Re: campaign scenario setup help
so far the mission is on time the ami has nothing that can stop the tigers. only air power is hurting KG hauser. So far after little more then 30 minuits the crossroads and the village guarding it are almost cleared. now a counterattack has started likcley to produce moch more destroyed american equipment. losses so far are a Flaktank destroyed and one immobilised by air attack. one truck shred to pieces by an air cobra machinegunning it. luckily the crew could escape.
also the bulgarian mortars and the 75 mm gun captured in france suffered from air attack. there was not so much cover available this time whic h led to very effective attack by allied air units.
the stuckas and me 109 are hunting also taking theri share of halftracks but its a dangerous hunt since the amis have tons of aamgs.

Re: campaign scenario setup help
the us army was trashed profoundly but we also lost around 50 men and some a few mgs and tanks. But the battlefield was full of vehicles and 50 cals to build a nice AA vehicle for the tank platoons. also the tigers will be a very welcome addition to the force. now that we firmly hold the whole area what will come next? first we try to fortify the area against air attack.

Re: campaign scenario setup help
so after a long hard battle kg hausers troops managed to push the us rangers and infabtry of the ridge while destroying at least 2 companies of tanks in the process. the french legionaires also had to retreat as the 2 tigers moved to capture the vilage just behind the ridge.
the obejctive of the attack a road junction 2 km behind the ridge couldnt be taken according to the timetable but as night fell the slovak scouts reached it and found it empty.desrted by their defenders whiuch panicked as they saw the frontlines on the ridge crumbling.
us air attack was heavy but valuable experience was gained regarding the use of smoke and cover to protect against strafing runs which was paid for dearly.
still 80 % of the artillery as well as 90 % of the taks are in running order. infatry strength is at 80 %. heaviest losses have been taken by the anti air guners which lost 2 vehicles and almost a whole gun crew.
the night provides cover and rest for the unit as they digg in at the ridge and newly conquered villages

Re: campaign scenario setup help
Welcome back!
Quote:
Despite our success, the campaign in Africa is a lost cause. We are one of the only units allowed to be evacuated to Sicily.
It is now July 1943 and the motors of hundreds of Allied planes are disturbing the night. We are receiving reports of paratroopers landing in the countryside, probably in order to capture several bridges. We are to attack and destroy their landing zones.

Re: campaign scenario setup help
So far so good as the alarm of paratroopers incoming sounded half og KG hauser set on to clear the area allocated to them. the rest stayed behinf to guard the units rest area and artillery.
most paras were taken prisoner as they landed with one panzer taken out by a para half squad that while sourrounded suddenly recovered its spirits and put a piat into a pz 3.
still the city in the center were secured and the area around it are almost cleared. unfortunatly some local partisans mined the approach to the 2 bridges and now the advance has slowed down waiting for the mineclearing troops to come forward.
