Re: Ticon and Pyrexia Ship Sets are now available
Cool work Atrocities!!
That's right I use 3ds Max.
I had actually used AutoCAD in my first attempts, I work in architecture and that's a program I was familiar with, but I never got to understand the more complicated rendering stuff. The Niridia shipset was made in autocad and exported into 3dsMax for the final touches and rendering.
And Captain Kwok uses Moray+POV-Ray.
Check this topic about 3d tools.

Well, D*MN ... I love the blue ones -- Ticon, eh? Well, as soon as you finish that set, I'll be adding it to my list of "love to use them" shipsets. Gorgeous is what they are.
Hmm, having looked at the work-in-progress page now ... Ihave to say, the Pyrexia TOO will be joining that list.
I have only one thing to say to you now, Atrocities:
MORE!!!!!!!

Atrocities:
I think the Ticon Consortium is your best work to date. My only suggestion would be to improve the scale between the different ship sizes.

Re: Ticon and Pyrexia Ship Sets are now available
Just a suggestion - almost all shipsets keep the same color gamma throught all ships. Sometimes it makes very different to pick up mini-ship images on the map. I think it would be nice if you indroduce slightly different shades to ship types. Like warships are deep blue, carriers are sky blue, transports are violet blue, etc. Just to make ships more telling from the first glance.

Aren't different shapes and sizes enough?

Re: Ticon and Pyrexia Ship Sets are now available
Romulan Starcat
I changed the name of the thread because I have been asking my self this question for weeks now. Why bother with new ship sets? I mean the game already have over 200 ship sets and who would want more?
The answer is simple, me. I love, rather really enjoyed, making ship sets. I enjoy the time I spend creating the images in my minds eye and sharing them with people who may or may not appreciate them. The fact that an image concept can go from thought to pratical game use in less than eight hours is amazing to me.
I really enjoy it when a design comes together, and often really get depressed when a design fails. Note the Romulan ships.
I started these before I did the set for Fyron, and have been debating whether or not to work on making a complete set. But once again the question comes up, why bother? I honestly don't know why I should, but I will more than likely do it out of bordom.

Other than me and just about everyone else here, I can't think of anyone.
I'm glad you enjoy doing them. Just keep them coming.
