Re: SE3 shipsets
Yeah there were many more SE3 shipsets than SE4 ones, and many of them are very cool.
I guess that it's because it's much easier to make or edit a 32x32 bitmap and you don't need any special graphics program almost every player had created at least one shipset.
For SE4 you need to draw larger and more detailed portraits, for what you need some graphics program, 3d for almost all of the shipsets, although there are a few 2d exceptions such as Trooper's Pexlerr (BTW their flag looks very similar to an Islamic crescent to me)
Anyway, making an SE4 shipset is much more complicated and therefor we have fewer shipsets.
I hope that doesn't mean that we'll have even fewer shipsets for SE5.
I also have a some SE3 shipsets somewhere.
But now, as I had done with that quick conVersion you were kind enough to send me back, I want to concentrate in the 12 stock SE3 shipsets that didn't make it into SE4.
I think I had already mentioned how disappointed I was when I finally got the full Version of SE4 and found that there were no more converted SE3 shipsets than the two I had seen in the demo.
Well I'm doing something abut that now.
BTW I have completed few more ships of that style12 shipset, but I'm too lazy to upload and post them tonight.

Re: SE3 shipsets
Wow that ship looks really good! The fine detail of the texture on the ship is very impressive.

Re: SE3 shipsets
Here's what I have so far. I just posted because I needed a little encouragement to finish the set.
There are still a few details that need to be fixed, such as that light-color band on the left of the ovoidal hull of the destroyer.
As always, don't be afraid to critizice, I mean it's nice to hear how nice your work is, but it's not very useful to correct details
The race portrait is currently considered provisional, ¿do you think it matchs the shipset?
I also need AI and racial descriptions.
Perhaps these pictures will get some of the AI wizards and/or story writers inspired. Anyone?
I'm provisionaly using the name 'Sethulkra' from the default empire names file, but you may change it to match the racial descriptions.

Re: SE3 shipsets
That is nothing short of mind-blowing. I'm glad I already finished the KanesS because if I'd seen these first I would have given up on shipset creation completely.
Those pics are truly gorgeous. Did you make the race portrait yourself? If so, how? I mean really, how?

Re: SE3 shipsets
So far I can't find any faults. Very well done IMHO!

Re: SE3 shipsets
The race portrait is from this picture by H.R. Giger.
http://www.fred-katrin.de/giger/tour...urist_VIII.jpg
I just cropped it and atlered its colors to match the shipset.
The textures are also from another of Giger's pictures with altered colors.
