Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
Phantasmal Warrior. Sorry for my laziness.
I was surprised at how effective spamming them can be. If you reach a critical mass the results are astounding. Granted, like every tactic/strat this can be countered but until your opponent comes with a counter you should already have plan B and C well under way.

Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
Orb lighting is something very nasty too. I didn't know until reacently that it gives fatigue weather it does any damage or not, same for axe of hate.
It is actually very effective even when fighting an early Neifel rush, orb lighting I mean.

Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
And it works underwater too, unlike thunderstrike. Orb Lightning is mucho goodness if you are Fomoria and don't have enough gear to thug out all your underwater kings, or are storming UW forts.

Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
Most elemental attacks do fatigue damage, actually. Lightning Bolt/Thunderstrike, Magma Eruption, being set on fire, etc.

Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
Yep, Fireball and Flare both have AoE-6 fatigue damage.

Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
I know about all those other, but I never really used orb lighting as a counter to SC's before. Firebal and flare are crap by the way, IMO.

Fireball is actually extremely nice, in rare situations even better than falling fires (range) and far lower research.

Re: EA Caelum – Ride the lightning
I really like summon lesser air elemental as a means to counter SCs/Thugs, it easily rips through your typical awake/dormant SC god.
It's available hellishly early, castable by even a1 mages and works good as crowd control when you start thunder striking the battlefield. There is barely a better way to spend your early air gems.
The cheap Copper plate/ring of tamed lightning items pretty much completly protects your SC against anything Air can do on the battle field, though, and neuters air elementals as a direct counter.
