I have to agree that JarJar was given waaaaay too much screen time.

But Episode I (TPM) was there for one purpose only, to introduce the characters for the next movie. Ok, it had some cool action sequences, and it really started to introduce us to what the Jedi were truely capable of, Luke vs. Darth Vader was a mostly untrained kid against a cripple, even in RotJ. And from what I understand we will get to see some real Jedi action with Yoda vs. a Dark Jedi (or Sith, I'm not sure which), and Aniken at the peak of his powers.

So as an introduction, it wasn't too bad. Except of course for the comic releif. If I wanted to watch The Three Stooges, I would. And don't get me wrong, I like The Three Stooges. But it's not what I paid for when I bought the tickt for TPM.

TPM =The Phantom Menace
RotJ=Return of the Jedi

I would say that the most obvious unbelievable aspect of the pod race was the nearly-inertialess turns... Look, a little metal ball attached to two huge ramjet engines is making a 90 degree turn without turning 150 degrees! If the things were really going that fast, there wouldn't have been any of the tight turns that were shown, all of them would be a few hundred meters in diameter.

That doesn't mean the story has to be a POS.
