I miss Star Trek (The Original Series.) It was so inovatively pure with a strong military feel that all the other series have somehow lost.

I miss the first 2 seasons, at least. The 3rd season Rodenberry gave up control so that it could be aired, and thus suffered in content. Probably the main reason the show was canceled. Also, I missed the females in their mini-skirt outfits.

My thoughts on 'Enterprise'..

ST: ToS
was, is and always will be the best

ST: TnG
Had some good stuff, all in all not a bad series

ST: DS9
Like TnG it had some good stuff, but I was not fond of the ST series loosing the "Boldly go where no man has gone before." aspect.

ST: Voyager
A nice twist on the ST theme,.. "To Boldly go home." I liked this series almost as much as the original.

ST: Enterprise
Is a piece of bantha poodoo. From the first show it went downhill, and it pretty much started at the bottom,(imho) so it's amazing it didn't get better. First BIG mistake, changing the main theme music/song. (what's up with that?) Second mistake, I couldn't wrap my mind around the crapy cast and acting. The only saving grace is T'pal. The actress made for a very convincing Vulcan. (Spock would be proud) Nuf said,..

Well, maybe not enough,.. I'd like to see a 'faithfull' remake of the original series and have it continue it's 5 year mission to 'explore new worlds'. I think that returning to the series 'roots' is the only thing that will save the franchise. Otherwise it will eventually fade as we old coots live long and prosper. (and our memories fade)

That's my thoughts in a nutshell, feel free to disagree, but if you plan to bash me, please use rubber hammers and shovels.

Cheers!

Dave, I like T'pal too, but she's about a foot too short to be a Vulcan. Maybe I'm wrong, but I was of the opinion that all Vulcans were pretty tall, at least 6 feet. Jolene Blaylock is probably all of 5'2", and looks like a midget when you have her stand to any of the male Vulcans they cast. Other than that, from what I've seen of her acting, she's dead on as far as acting like a Vulcan living with humans and trying, sometimes not successfully, not to act like them.

As far as DS9, I was going to write off the whole show as Hotel in Space, until I started watching it. The drama with the characters kept me watching it. Then they finally got the roundabouts and the Defiant, which helped with the mobility the show was lacking. I've missed a few episodes, so I still don't know how the mirror universe saga started. And I missed a few episodes on the start of the Dominion War. But overall, I liked this better than Voyager. Too bad I can't afford to buy all of the dvd sets at this point in time.

Continuity to TOS...well to be honest, it's impossible. Does anyone else remember TOS episode where the Enterprise was hijacked by aliens, and taken towards another galaxy?? And the ship ended up doing like, warp 14 or 16 or something? Now, ever since TOS, there's been the arbitrary limit of warp 9.99 for a top speed (at least, up until Voyager, which of course had an episode where they broke that barrier, and travelled warp 10...but got some very odd side effects ) So the continuity has been shot ever since TNG began.

There are loads of continuity errors, but that isn't one of them. The warp drive scale was 'adjusted' sometime in the decades prior to the TNG era. In TOS era used to be the cube of the warp factor was the number of times the speed of light you were moving. In the TNG era it's 3.3 instead of a flat 3, which already skews it so that Warp 9 in the new scale is much faster than Warp 9 in the old scale. But they also added some sort of 'open ended' asymptotic curve for speeds over Warp 9 so you really couldn't ever reach Warp 10.

But it's true that the Trek universe is a hopeless mess as far as internal consistency of science and technology. Paramount actually writes scripts based on story ideas and then asks technical 'consultants' make up the technology issues to fit the story!

In Voyager they once broke warp 10 and as a result Paris and the Captain turned into creatures and mated thus starting a new race of beings. UTTER CRAP! Episodes like these just made me sick.

As Warp engines improve, the scale changes. Eventually the scale will factor Transwarp into the equation.

Warp 1 - 9.9999999999999999999999999999999999999
Transwarp would be Warp 10 to 13.99999999999999999
