I used a lens flare at the tip of the turret to have the emitter. Was wanting to have a bit of irregularity in the beam...

Those pics you attached are black squares with a small smear of blue.
You need light on those ships. That is by far the biggest problem with the pics.
They're lit like a B-rated horror movie.
What I can see of the modelling is pretty good. The problem is I can't see the ship.
