Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
YES! How is that for a component. A bomb pumped x-ray laser with a chamber in your ship and an ?% chance your ship goes boom when you use it.
Thebans with boarding sleds, Gorm with engine tuners. Add in the Insurrection fleets with those uber-monitors.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
To have those Uber-Monitors we need Super Dreadnoughts and Monitors in the game first. Which means they'll be so bloody big you'll wet your pants when you see one! Sounds good to me.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
Easy enough to whip up a large honking monster with changes to the vehicles.txt file. I don't really have a mental image of what the Starfire ships should look like.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
"large honking monster", I like that. Judging from the covers on my books the ships looks kind of like slightly bloated cigars with alot of stuff sticking out from them, most notably being the big brute engines at the rear. Have to somehow find out the relation between different size ships in the books so it can be reflected properly in the game.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
Yeah, I consider the covers kind of the generic sci-fi cover art although Death Ground looks kind of neat(sequel due out this year). It is unfortunate Starfire hasn't had at least a computer game treatment (other than SE IV), the Trek, Star Wars and B5 ships are all instantly recognizeable and I find that universe no less intriguing. The David Weber/Harrington universe is very well illustrated in the books.

A sequel for In Death Ground you say? I just checked baens publishing schedule but I can't seem to find it. What's the name of the book and who is publishing it.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
Jubala, you could use the the hull sizes out of the Starfire books for size comparisons. I have thought about it "alot", just to busy to do anything with it.
Starfire would be a great mod, fits in nicely with game mechanics.
The sequel to "In Death Ground" is called "The Shiva Option", due out this year. If you get a chance, pick up a copy of Starfire Design Studio's ISW-4 for a complete rundown on what happened. The scenarios and interlude passages were written by David Weber.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
How about the Wing Commander universe? It would be a perfect fit as SEIV uses warp points as does the Wing Commander universe with it's jump points. Throw in the Kilrathi/Terran Confederation and a few other fictious races and voila your ready to roll. I realize it's already a well established game, but it's never had a proper 4x game made out of it. They tried with Wing Commander Armada but, frankly, that game sucked.

I picked it up off the Baen site: http://www.baen.com/ but not in the publishing schedule. It was phrased as due out this year but no date set.

Re: POLL: Which mod would you prefer?
B5 B5 B5 B5 B5!!!!!!!!!
Since the only B5 shipset I have seen so far is Rambie's Earth Alliance, perhaps some of you expert modders and artists can give me some pointers on how to develop my own portraits and mini portraits for ships. I am not much of an artist myself but I am inspired to try it. If there is anyone out there who is also a B5-a-holic who wants to do the art, I would be happy to collaborate and do the AI programming. This game seems ideally suited to recreating the B5 universe, not only the major races from the show but all of the other minutiae including Shadows/Vorlons, non-aligned worlds, first ones and jump gate technology. Thanks!
