Re: SE3 shipsets
Excellent shipset. I truely cannot wait until it is completed. I will use it in my PBW games after that. Evil looking race portrait too, I like it!

If not, I'm sure a suitable replacement could be modelled/ drawn by Andres or someone else here.

Re: SE3 shipsets
Theoretically it can be exported as .X
Face count is not that high considering that models consist of many curved surfaces, and may be reduced with a little work.
And I'm supposed to be able to export them with .x format or maybe convert .3ds files into .x
But I don't even have the SF demo or any other program that uses these format to test them.
Abut the copyright, I don't think it will be a problem as long as I don't try to sell it. Well known artists such as H.R. Giger consider these knid of fan work as free publicity.
And for SE5, I don't know what kind of race portraits it will use, but my guess is that they will also be 3d models and not 2D pre-rendered pictures, so a new one will have to be modeled anyway.
BTW I keep working on the shipset and just finished the bases, but I'm too lazy to upload and post another preview.

Re: SE3 shipsets
Nice looking set of ships. And that picture. I can sympathize with Atrocities. It looks surprisingly like my wife when she loses her temper, and the longer we've been married, the shorter time between outbursts .

Re: SE3 shipsets
I kind of doubt SE5 will use 3d race portraits. Faces are the most difficult aspect to render, you'd get little gain for a LOT of effort.
If you can send them to me in .x or .3ds I can see how they look in Starfury.

Re: SE3 shipsets
That picture looks ... dark and disturbing. The creature has a very evil, sinister look. I couldn't imagine being in a relationship with someone like that; I'm not strong enough!

Re: SE3 shipsets
Wow, just stunning ships. We need to get a crew together to do all the SEIII stock shipsets.
That would be great.

I'm provisionaly using the name 'Sethulkra' from the default empire names file, but you may change it to match the racial descriptions.

Fyron seems to approve the name Sethulkra for the race. What about empire type, emperor name, design names and racial descriptions.
Can't any of you write three lines of text?
Not even suggestions?
Maybe it's because I've been reading NJO books recently but when I think of a dark, nasty race that uses organic techs I can only think of something too similar the Yuuzhan Vong.
Maybe if I offer a prize?
Get me a nice matching description and I'll email you an exclusive preview of the shipset plus a couple of larger renders of the ships.

Re: SE3 shipsets
I like the idea of a intel race, who uses cunning and deception to it's fullest. Unfortunately SEIV intel is sub par IMHO.

Re: SE3 shipsets
Change the prize to .3ds files (or a format I can use, heh) and you're on.
