Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I like Klingons. Something about them. Just like Klingons. Not that you'd ever find me dressing up as one at a con or anything
(says while doing repair work on set of stormtrooper armor.)

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
General Woundwort writes: "There was no fifth season. Trust me. It was a vile rumor. It never happened."
The term "fifth season" refers to that agonizingly prolonged anti-climax that followed the climactic fourth season.
Best line of the entire series, delivered by the recently resurrected Sheridan: "I was dead. I'm better now." Unfortunately, the show wasn't. Dead, I mean. Or better.
Second best part of the series: At the climax of the war, the pipsqueak humans tell the mighty Vorlons and Shadows, their superiors by millions of years, to "get the hell out of our galaxy!"--and they GO!
The best part of the series actually happened BEFORE the show started, apparently just so they could call it "Babylon 5" instead of "Babylon":
They said it was *daft* to build a space station in a swamp, but I showed them!
It sank unto the swamp. So I built a second space station. That sank into
the swamp too. My third space station sank into the swamp. So I built a fourth
one. That fell into a time warp and _then_ sank into the swamp. But the fifth
one... stayed up! --Monty Python/Babylon 5

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
TOS is the best,.. period!
TNG? Let's see, Weisly Crusher=Bad, Reiker=Bad, The Doctors=Bad, Tasha=Bad, Q=Stupid, Gynen=Bad, Data=Good, Picard=Good, Worf=Good, Geordi=Good.
Result 5 Bad, 4 Good and One Stupid.. At best it fuddled through at mediocer speed. And the fact that the no longer had to 'Blodly go..' due to too many Holodeck episodes is Badx10^6.
DS9, Oh god, Now ST totally abandonns the 'Boldly Go,..' for "Come to us,.." Bad idea, bad, bad bad.
Voyager, Actually a fair attempt to bring life back into ST. Still too many Holodeck episodes. Best Casting Since TOS.
Enterprise, wtf? Piss poor, from the start, changing the opening music bad idea, and bad music to boot. Cast, felt like cardboard paper dolls, the captain's dog acted realistic at least. A series that is supposed to take place before the original and somehow the 'Borg' make an appearence. bad bad bad.
Other notes,.. Spock the single best Vulken ever. Have you seen Tuvok? whatch his face it's so emotional it's almost laughable.
Anyway, TOS rules the day for ST. just my humble opinion.
Cheers!

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I watched farscape during a marathon they had. Two whole weeks of back-to-back-to-back... They showed every epsiode, from 8:00 to 4:00, 8 hours of it every day. I missed a few, but most of them I watched...
Now, TNG? I've watched all of those. They show them every day, 3 times a day... so why not watch it? Some of the episodes are good.

Well B5 did nick Checkov from TOS.
Whilst he was excellent, both the actor and character, I never really got over the shock. I always half expected Bester to start talking in bad Russian.
On a topic related note, I just saw DS9 'In The Pale Moonlight.' a few days ago. Damn me that is even better than I remember, possibly one of the best Trek episodes I've ever seen.

Isn't it funny how the poor bastard apparently never made it very far in Starfleet? In the final TOS movie, Sulu is captain of the brand-spankin-new Excelsior, and where's Chekov? Still at the helm of the aging Enterprise... Course, same could be said for Uhuru. Scotty and Bones didn't really have much place to go, but what about poor Pavel Chekov?

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
The 5th season of B5 would've been much better if UPN hadn't given jms the run-around. When it appeared to jms that B5 would be cancelled after the 4th season, he stuffed 5th season stuff into the 4th season, so the show could have some closure. This left little material for the 5th season when B5 was picked up by Sci-Fi.
Thus, blame B5's bad 5th season on UPN.

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Season 5 of B5 was not ran on UPN, it was ran on TNT and it was TNT who gave them the shaft in scheduling.

I once read that there was an idea running about once during TNG to have an episode where Chekov is discovered by the Enterprise. The idea was that he had been captured by an alien race and held prisoner since TOS. I don't know how they would handle his age, but the idea was that he would be bitter at the idea that the Federation had abandoned him to a POW camp.

And it was never aired on Sci Fi until reruns.

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Well, Chekov was first officer of the USS Reliant... until Khan took it over.
It's OK, he was much better being Bester.
