Decent is modest. Look at that Protection stat, the good Attack, Defense, Morale, and Magic Resistance... Really, this guy is a Swiss Army Knife. He can do a bit of everything.

These spells include Invulnerability, Fire Shield and Soul Vortex, and he's sacred and can bless himself too. Surely you all have already realized this. Those two 50% resistances help, too. The poison resistance lets him cast Invulnerability and be just 50% suspectable to Poison, and they and few cheaper Yomi mages have Air randoms so they can get Rings of Tamed Lightning as well to use Ironskin. No access to cold resistance, though.

Their body protection is 23, but natural armor just 10 (8 +2 from Earth), so their head armor is only 10... Crossbowmen and even occassional bowmen can get lucky, and feeble-mindedness is as evil as ever, and Yomi gets just 1 Earth gem/turn. You need luck to make enough helmets for them! That, or find some Earth sites, or research Construction for other types of helmets. Not that those are necessarily worse options, mind you.

BTW, I had nice luck in my test game. +20 hp and +5 str thanks to Heroic Obesity! Not bad for turn 2, eh? The +3 Enc hurts, but not this early. He needs lighter armor before he can cast boost spells, though. Or perhaps Earthpower.

As SC he is difficult to use though. Fatigue is a rather big problem with all the nice buffs he can cast. 9 spell casting encumberance. The problem is the heavy samurai armor with 4 encumberance. You have to try to get rid of it asap .

I was trying to get my Heroically Obese Dai Oni killed, but the best I could do was 4 hp. Those hp keep coming really fast! +37 hp now, maybe 5 turns later, and +9 strength. The latest try was against Ichtyids - during this fight I noticed that they had morale of just 6 or 8 or 7. I tested it few times, and the only solution I could come up with was that effects of Fear aura are visible.

That's SO cool! Just being around Fear +4 unit lowers Ichtyids' morale of 12 so much! I'm definitely going to try Fear/Awe combinations!

EDIT: OMG Virtue with Dominion 10 starts with Awe +7!

In other news, Death doesn't give automatic Fear any more so I'll have to get innovative... Hmm...
