Help, "File not found" error message
Hey, I used to play this game when it first came out (SEIV and SEIV gold) but it eventually lost my attention. I just installed it the other night and I can't play it with a mod directory.
I copied all the folders and pasted them in a file called mydata. Then I changed path.txt to mydata. When I start a game everything works fine untill I click end turn. When I click it I get a message that says "File not found" What am I doing wrong? Is there a file I should add?

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
You have to duplicate the folder structure for all the files you add to your mod folder. So, you need to make a mod folder, such as "MyMod" and the copy the stock data folder there (including the data folder). So, you would have:
SE4 Installation\MyMod\Data
If you want to add AI files, you have to make an AI folder under MyMod, and so on.

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
I did that already. I copied all the folders in the SE4 Installation and made a file called mydata and pasted the folders in there. It is an exact copy. I didn't put the text documents in there (like path.txt, etc.) should I copy those too? The stuff like the data folder and all that are there though.
From what I remember, if you had something wrong with the mod directory then the game wouldn't load it. It would say something like "File missing" or "Bad file" (or something like that) and then it would show the directory where the file was found and the game wouldn't load.
The error doesn't say what file is missing. That's what's bugging me.

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
You do not need all of the files copied over, just the ones you want to change.
Try removing folders from your mod folder one by one to see which one is causing that error. Once you figure it out, make sure to email the problem to se4@malfador.com so that it can be fixed.

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
but if it says "file not found" wouldn't that mean that a file is missing?

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
Any file that is not in the mod folder will be read from the default folders.

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
i think Fyron thinks that it's really a different error with a mask on.

Re: Help, "File not found" error message
It was the History folder. I deleted it and now everything works great.
Thanks for the help. Now I can get back to my long forgotten conquests...
