Default Another Stellar Manipulation question or 2

If one attempts to open a warp hole to a system that has the anti-warphole shield, I know that the attempt fails. However, what I do NOT know is if:

1) Does the attempter get told during the turn, as if trying to build the 7th facility on a 6 facility planet? Or is it not until next turn?

2) Does the empire(s) who owns the unsuccessfully-targeted system get made aware that an attempt had been made to make the warp hole?

You get a warning the same turn IF playing sequential. In simultanious I don't think you're told until the next turn.

I only play Simultaneous, so that is a good qualification. That is, that one might get a warning one way but not the other.

If it is not known for sure, I may have to test it at some point in this game. That is, if I fail to open the warp, go back in via the Empire I tried it on and see if they got a message. Obviously, they will always get a message if I succeed. I have gotten such Messages myself when an AI did it on a part of the map I was nowhere near, and had not even visited yet. The Q is if they get a message even if the attempt fails and, if so, do they know where the attempt was made from. I will report the results in a few days, if I do it.

By the way, this is not a trivial question. In a human-human game (I would guess a max tech one), one would have to either make the attempt from a black hole system, or one would have to use a system that is itself vulnerable to counter-attacks through fresh warp holes made in riposte by the enemy, unless one goes to the extreme trouble of making 10 warp holes intra-empire, then closing one, then opening the 10th again. That's lot of work.

I would guess that i would probably have the shield there in the system, and another in the build queue on hold when I made the attempt. Then, scrapping the shield would allow the warp hole attempt first, then the build queue would make the facility again.

Against AIs, I don't think any of the above is likely needed, but I try to avoid negative training in my solo games.

In simultaneous, you definitely get the error message "not being able to create..." NEXT turn. Makes sense, too. Otherwise, you could try-and-error warp connections into every system and easily check out the whole map for weak spots in a single turn.

Nope - the other empire does not know about the failed attempt. They certainly will get notified of a successfully opened warp point.
