OT: Star Trek
Sorry for the OT, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good site with updated information about star trek.Mainly, I'm interested in any info portaining to the new movie (if there is one coming out ) and if there is a new series coming out (really don't like Enterprise too much). SO if someone could point me in the right direction, or maybe share anything they heard, I appreciate it
Thanks

Re: OT: Star Trek
The official site will only carry information when things have been decided and approved for production. To get rumors and breaking news you want other sources. Try the Star Trek Groups on Usenet. There are dozens of them, but rec.arts.startek.* are the most active and useful for information:
rec.arts.startrek.current
rec.arts.startrek.fandom
rec.arts.startrek.info
rec.arts.startrek.misc
rec.arts.startrek.reviews
rec.arts.startrek.tech

Re: OT: Star Trek
You might want to drop by the www.trekreview.com as well. The Synopsis page is rather well written and even though it is a new site, I am hopeful it will grow and become a good Star Trek site for information and such.

Re: OT: Star Trek
The latest 'Trek' rumour is a three movie 'pre-quill' kinda idea (posted on the Ain't It Cool News movie site. The movies would be based upon events and not so much characters with a young Ensign Kirk appearing in the Last of the third movie....don't know if this would ever happen but who knows...

I wouldn't mind seeing young Kirk growing up in a farm in Iowa dreaming of the stars along with his brother Sam. I'd also love to see George Kirk in action, as IIRC he was the security officer of the Robert April era Enterprise. It would be neat to see, but I doubt it would ever happen.

Re: OT: Star Trek
I really don't see that happening either. You have to keep in mind that these movies have to generate revenue from more than star trek fans even then, as a ST fan, I don't like the "TOS" era (yes, i know it reads the The...).
As for a new series... I wouldn't mind seeing something more modern, post-Voyager or even post-Nemesis. It would be nice if they were able to mesh in stories from the previous 3 series (TNG, DS9 and VOY) as well as previous locations, events and people (as guest appearances). I'm sure there's a lot more that'll be happening now that the borg are gone, the dominion are not a big threat, and the federation *does* have technology from the future...

Re: OT: Star Trek
I don't think there'll be a new series until Enterprise runs it's seven seasons. But I would have no idea on what it would be about, unless the long lamented Star Trek Academy idea is resurrected. Maybe when I get around to it I'll check those sites out for any and all rumors. And I don't think there'll be a new ST movie, at least not with the TNG cast.

Re: OT: Star Trek
Well, bringing powerful technology from the future to defeat the Borg sort of ruined the story because the Borg were supposed to be this big threat to the federation, and having Janeway violate the prime directive about time travel wasn't so good, even though every starship captain seems to regularly break the rules. Well, now to make things interesting, they have to introduce an even more powerful alien enemy race to threaten the federation.
