Another pair of bugs from the beta-testers (us players)
Greetings all.
Two problems, both today, oddly enough. Apparently one of my AI opponents sabatoged a ship within a fleet during one turn, and I got the message "[sic] Ship XXX has been sabatoged and lost movement for this turn". I went to the fleet, and the ship was undamaged and had its full 7 movement points, as did the rest of the fleet.
Number two, I received a Log message stating Ship XXX was damaged by an Ion Storm, a random event (thank God those work, I had yet to see a R.E. in all my days of playing). Yet, upon going to the event, my ship was undamaged.... no components lost, no points collected against me in the "damage bar". Anyone else have either of these two things happen or explicitly not happen to them?
Jonathan

well, you might be totally shocked to hear this, but i have never seen a random event either. I would suppose though that the ion storm that hit you either did not do enough to penetrate your shields, or did not do enough damage to actually destroy a component.
as for the movement loss, I dont could not guess about that.

Good thought about the shields, Puke, but this vessel was a non-combatant, and had neither shields nor armor.

No, but apparently the multiple struts from the numerous satellite bays were able to hold her together.

No random events? I've seen twice this ion storm thing that destroys entire systems. The 2nd time I saw it it destroyed my home system leaving me with a bunch of unconnected mining colonies and I lost the game. I now turn events off....
The only events I haven't seen is a good event.

Re: Another pair of bugs from the beta-testers (us players)
Puke: sorry to hear about the ion storm in your home system. That would TRULY suck...
As for shields blocking ion storm damage - I thought shields only worked during combat; hence the fact that mines, warp points, etc. ignore shields when applying damage to the ship.
Organic armor might do the trick... but not for restoring movement.
Just a question - you don't have "simultaneous turn" on, do you? Maybe it's another one of THOSE bugs?
Long live the Moebius Consortium!

Re: Another pair of bugs from the beta-testers (us players)
I had the report of storm damage and found none but the ship was well shielded. As to random events, I've had lots and none ever good, Has anyone had a star explode?

I've had a report of a star about to explode, but I won the game before it was due to go off.
Also, if you look through the random events file there are no good events. Not a single one. I think this was supposed to balance out the fact that there are no bad racial traits.

A little off the posted topic but similiar to the thread talk - How the heck do you stop a planet from rioting after they already start? I've heard putting a ship in orbit, but I tried this w/a lt cruiser and it didn't work.
