Some questions - help please
I am still a newbie at this game, but had some questions:
1) I started a cluster-galaxy with 'not all warp points connected' which creates a cool set-up of small clusters that are removed from one another. My question is: Will the computer develope stellar manipulation and move outward to new clusters once it has filled the 3-5 systems it is currently occupying?? I do not want to play a long game (of developing myself in my small cluster) only to discover a pathetic computer opponent.
2) I would like to download and apply the Mod-package, but have no programming experience (I play games and word process... that's about it) Will I be able to install it? If not, could someone offer a step by step for a true beginner?
Thanks for your help

Re: Some questions - help please
I suggest that when you unzip, unzip to a folder separate from the game one. Read the readme.txt file there and follow its instructions.
I doubt the AI will develop stellar manipulation without some of the MOD's but not sure if/which one pushes this ability up a bit.

1 - yes, in Version 1.19 they will.
2 - the mod files have read.me files with them, the authors have put good instructions there. basically, all you have to do is copy the files into the right directories.
good hunting!

Re: Some questions - help please
And if you unzip the mod package directly into the SEIV directory, er, folder, it will put the right files in the right place for ya.

Re: Some questions - help please
Excatly what Elwood said - when you go to unzip the file it will give you an option as to what folder to put it in, make sure you choose your "Space Empires IV" main directory. If you do this, it will put all the files in the appropriate directories for you, create subfolders in you backup directory and place a backup file of each file changed in their respective backup subfolders. One of the major reasons we put it all in one "Mod Pack" was to avoid cutting/pasting files into all the folders. Hope this helps.
