OpenGL dll problems

A Dominions II player wannabe has some trouble starting Dominions. I wonder if anyone knows of a solution to this one.

He's got a "NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro" graphics card and DirectX9. I recommended drivers from www.nvidia.com but that didn't help.
Any suggestions?

I think the TNT2 M64 might be one of the cards for which the older drivers actually work better; e.g. something like Detonator 3 v6.50.
