Serpentine shipset request
Indeed, I am actually looking for a shipset besides the usual Regency I keep on using. So, does anyone know of a shipset featuring a serpent Empire, or at least a race portrait that would represent a serpent? (Or even better, something closer to a Naga, but I shouldn't be dreaming)
I cannot really make an in-depth search in the shipsets sites for now, given how slow my connection is, so I have no choice but to ask on the forum. And obviously, I cannot even consider to think about drawing my own race portrait given how horrible the result would be.
If there is no such shipset, or if it happens to be impossible to find, I guess the Cryslonite will masquerade as serpents. Thanks in advance!

Re: Serpentine shipset request
The KanesS is very serpentine- or at least the race portrait is.

what sort of serpent portrait do you want? Can you describe a naga? I might be tempted to draw one for you...

The Sethulkra are slightly serpentine, and very cool

Re: Serpentine shipset request
Hmm, I like the look of your shipset, especially the ships themselves.
A Naga has the upper body of a human and the lower body of a serpent; kind of like a mermaid I guess. Dominions has a nice Naga Pretender that I could send to you via email if you want. I had more descriptive pictures, but they went down with my hard drives.
Thanks RD! I will be trying this shipset as soon as my modem decides to download it.

Hmm. Ok, how much of the alien would you want shown? Just the head? Head and shoulders? full body?

Re: Serpentine shipset request
A portrait such as the one for your own shipset would work (head and upper body), if you have the time and the inspiration to do such a drawing. Either the KanesS or Sethulkra would be fine for my Empire however, at least much more fitting than the Cryslonite.

Re: Serpentine shipset request
OK, any particular colours, themes, acessories..?
Tell me about the race: Benign? Aggressive? Cultured? Barbarians? Lots of techie/cyborg bits or all fangs and claws? The more you tell me the better I can try to draw it.

Re: Serpentine shipset request
Hmm, I would like a bright yellow hue to the serpent, a more vivid colour than the one for the Sethulkra for example (closer to your own shipset). A headwear of some sort would fit in nicely with the theme.
The race itself is cultured (or at least, they think of themselves that way), mystical, haughty and arrogant, but they should be rather peaceful (why risk their lives in a petty war?). They aren't too keen on technology, that excuse for the crawling races... Erh, I am digressing. Besides their own religion, they are also dabbling in the field of Crystallurgy, if you believe you can add something along these lines to the portrait.
So in short the core of their society would be arrogant, distrusting to the newcomers in space, conservative and living in a setting closer to Renaissance than a space-based society. If you need any more precise information, please tell me so; I do a poor job of describing any of my Empires, and writing the actual descriptions is usually a torment.

I don't know, perhaps I might have something you can use. www.galileo.spaceports.com/~william/main.htm

Re: Serpentine shipset request
No, that's very descriptive. It conjures up an excellent image in my mind, but I've a horrible feeling it's one I won't be able to draw=-)
I'll give it a try though, somewhen soon. I really ought to get all my graphics software & artpad reinstalled...
