Default \"Speed SE4\"

Ever play speed chess?

Too bad PBW only offers a smallest increment of 1 hour for automated execution. Would be nice to get a game of 2 or 4 players in a "speed game" that executed automatically every 15 minutes (or so). Players could agree to a time to play (for a set number of hours), have the game set to "auto", and let the fun begin. Then, at the designated time, turns set to ALPU till the next speed round (that could be agreed upon) was scheduled.

Good for a low number of players who could easily agree to a date and time for play.

Oh well, just running off at the KB before bedtime...

A couple years ago, I started some "Turn Blitz" games on PBW...
1 hour turns, 24/7. Game is done in about 2 weeks.
And you have to choose an AI that will work with you instead of against you, since it will be playing half your turns while you sleep

A more structured game, where players submit a turn, and then the game processes 5 times in a row (or some other variation on X turns played for every Y skipped) could be interesting and would be more fair to the players with varying amounts of free time.

I set up the SE4 quadrant data file to have a quadrant with only one system. Imagine a game with all 20 races starting in the same system. Imagine again each race starting with 10 homeworlds. Now that was some fast tactical mayhem.

Well, the idea isnt that bad after. A game with only 3-4 Systems, connected with each other. 10 races starting in them, and each sector offers like 15 planets. Engines or vessel speed in general would have to be decreased to maybe 1-3 per turn.

that would be funny imho !
