Magic duel still buggy?

I just had an unpleasant (is there another kind?) and puzzling loss.
An S9 mage of mind teleported on top of a S3 mage, cast Power of the Spheres,
Magic duel, and went 'poof'. I clicked on him before he died, and he was
showing S10. Now, the chances of a Astral 10 mage losing to a Astral 3 should
be zero, nada, zip. Can anyone think of an explanation apart from 'bug'?

Doesn't Mind Duel show up on the list of spells cast? What spells were shown as cast?

He said he was the one casting Mind Duel, so I suppose it does show...
Maybe there's an oe die roll involved somehow?

Yes, all the spells showed. Both mages got the mind duel pinkish effect, and
my astral ten ice devil died, while the astral three genie lived. As you can
guess I was pretty pissed, because there are a couple of easy ways to take out
the genie, but I wanted to make a point and use magic duel.

Back to the bottle for him, in any case.
